A Epic Triumph: Tsunami's Sensational Return to the British Taekwondo National Championships

In a riveting comeback to the prestigious British Taekwondo Nationals in Sheffield, Tsunami Taekwondo left an indelible mark on the event, showcasing the prowess of its dedicated team of 7 athletes. The palpable excitement and extreme thrill filled the air as the athletes gave their best efforts, with some narrowly missing spots in the final rounds. However, any momentary disappointment was swiftly overshadowed by the sensational achievements that followed.

In a stunning feat, Tsunami proudly secured 2 gold medals, crowning Nahla and Ar'Eyun as British National Champions. Additionally, 3 bronze medals were claimed, marking the triumphant athletes as British National Medalists. This collective victory felt like a resounding win for the entire club.

Nahla and Ar'Eyun, the dynamic sibling duo, played pivotal roles in the success story. Both athletes engaged in three bouts each within their individual categories, and each secured a remarkable victory with a 10-second 12-0 Point Gap (PTG). Their lightning-fast PTGs were among the quickest at the Nationals, showcasing not only skill but also exceptional speed.

Ar'Eyun, in a standout moment, achieved the fastest PTG of the entire event with a 12-0 victory in just 6 seconds—an unprecedented feat at Nationals. Meanwhile, Nahla's final fight emerged as the most epic rematch of the entire championship, especially poignant as she had narrowly lost to the same opponent in the finals the previous year. In securing gold, Nahla not only became a British National Champion but also avenged her prior loss, replacing her 2022 silver medal with a well-deserved 2023 gold one. The club's performance at the British Taekwondo Nationals exemplified excellence, determination, and an unwavering spirit that continues to elevate Tsunami Taekwondo to new heights.

Congratulations to our Outstanding Athletes:

  • Gold Medalists: Nahla & Ar'Eyun

  • Bronze Medalists: Josiah, Kaleem, & Keiron

  • Quarterfinalists: Clara & Lorenzo
